Have Most PR Agencies Become Content Marketing Agencies?

This one needs a long heated discussion.

I’ll just try and explain it in a detail and also offer a bit of my opinion [even if you don’t agree, do respect it ;-)]

The buzz around PR marketing and Content Marketing has been going around for a while now. Brands are pouring dollars into marketing their products.

Well, you must be aware of several types of marketing techniques. If not, do read our previous articles on marketing. That said, what is happening in the marketing industry? What’s the trend going on? Who’s leading the trends? Lots and lots of questions are uprisings, so let’s dive into it.

PR agency by definition, “It’s a professional services organization that helps to conceive, produce and manage unpaid messages to the public through the media on the behalf of the client to change the public’s actions by influencing opinions.”

Content Marketing Agency by definition, “It helps with customer acquisition and retention strategy, design marketing plans and drive the content strategy and support online and offline activities required for success.”

But If you want to differentiate it in simple words, a PR agency focuses on direct advertising of the brand and brand name using traditional media channels whereas a content marketing agency builds content to educate audiences and manifest a brand as a specialist.

Businesses have finally started to figure out content marketing. With its soaring value, everyone wants to invest in it as it aligns with modern buyer preferences and needs.

To be honest, Content marketing has taken over the industry with an estimated worth of $412.88 Billion by 2021. You must have heard that “Content is the King” and let me tell you it’s not a hoax and I would rather say “Content is the Kingdom.

Content marketing has proved itself as the best by producing 3 times more leads with less than half the cost. Don’t be surprised when I tell you that content marketing costs 62% less than traditional marketing and converts 6 times more leads. If we want to say it in one word, I would use ‘Benefactor’.

If you don’t believe me, I have a few examples that can prove how effective Content Marketing is:

  • Coke’s “Share A Coke” Campaign
  • Buffer’s Open Blog
  • Hootsuite and a Game of Social Thrones
  • Microsoft and Stories
  • HubSpot’s Inbound Marketing
  • McDonald’s Question Time
  • GoPro and Visual Content
  • Share as Image

If you are still not convinced, let me just state some points for content marketing:
Believe it or not, every Digital Marketing strategy is content.
It’s cost-effective with an attractive ROI on consistent content.

Let me just clarify that buyers are “Content Hungry”, so give them what they want.

It strengthens customer relationships and sets you apart from your competitors.

Hope I can be of even a little help to you.

Just a small reminder,
“Content build relationships.
Relationships are built on trust.
Trust drives revenue.”

So to answer the question, YES, most PR agencies have become Content marketing agencies. I mean, why not? With so much to offer and much less price who wouldn’t. If you aren’t I would suggest you start now!

In today’s marketing world, most PR agencies are converting to Content Marketing agencies after observing the buzz it has created. If you aren’t engaging in Content marketing you are missing out on one of the best strategies to boost your business.

It amplifies content research on social media and generates return visits to the website.

Happy Marketing!

That’s all for now folks!
